Welcome to the Southington Town Clerk's office. The Town Clerk is an elected official, sworn to uphold constitutional law and the laws of the community. The Clerk acts as a liaison between the citizens of our community and its government.

It is our goal to serve the residents of Southington by providing assistance, supplying accurate and timely information, and increasing your access to town information and services. I invite you to stop by and experience our service with a smile.

A Message from your Town Clerk

As we transition into opening the Town Clerks Office to the public on June 8th, and in an effort to reduce foot traffic and adhere to social distancing guide lines; I ask that you continue accessing the Town Clerk page of the website. As you see under Additional Links, there are services that are offered that can be done by mail such as obtaining a dog license, request vital record copies (birth, marriage and death), absentee ballot applications etc. Fishing and Hunting licenses can be obtained on the DEEP website Transfer Station sticker issuance has been taken over by the Highway Department.  For mail in instructions and forms; on the website go to Highway Department and click on Transfer Station.

Town Clerk requests can be mailed to Town Clerk, PO Box 152, Southington, CT 06489.  A drop box is available at the Town Hall to drop off requests.  The drop box is located on the Berlin Street (parking lot side) of the Town Hall. It is checked throughout the day to retrieve those requests for processing.

I encourage attorneys and couriers delivering land record recording packets to continue using the drop box rather than entering the office.   Recording information (date, time, volume and page) can be obtained from our online land record search portal upon recording.  If a receipt is needed, provide a self-addressed stamped envelope or fax number, no email addresses please, and we will send you a receipt.

Vault access will be limited to four people at a time for title searches; there may be a wait to enter the vault area.  Please take advantage of the temporary free subscription of the land record search portal (per page copy fee still applies) and only come in to obtain those records that are not available on line.

These are unprecedented times, many adjustment have to be made for the health and well being of our town staff and for all of you as well.  We are always glad to help and serve the public but in these times we need to do this from a ‘distance’ as much as possible.

  • Maintains local liquor permit file
  • Provides Notary Services and maintains a record of all Southington Notaries
  • Maintains burial and cremation permit information
  • Maintains a file of all lawsuits and claims filed against the town
